Four major local aviation players have teamed with the Primary Industries Ministry to promote Malaysian palm oil and provide a further boost to the ministry-initiated “Love MY Palm Oil” campaign.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and three local airline companies, namely Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS), Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd and AirAsia Bhd, will be throwing their support behind the “Love MY Palm Oil” campaign by spreading the message to foreign visitors through various channels, according to a statement from the ministry.
“They will carry the message through their digital info screens, in-flight magazines and entertainment systems, art and product displays,” said the Primary Industries Ministry.
“I am glad that MAHB and the airline companies displayed their patriotism by supporting our campaign to further elevate the image of palm oil.
“Their efforts will also help us to counter the misperceptions on palm oil created by the aggressive anti-palm oil campaigns.
“I hope many more industry players will come forward and join us in this cause to protect our nation’s largest commodity that has been the source of livelihood and jobs for three million people in Malaysia,” said Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok after her meeting with MAHB, Malindo and MAS at Putrajaya.
MAHB group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, MAS group CEO Izham Ismail and Malindo CEO Chandran Rama Murthy were at the meeting.
The “Love MY Palm Oil” campaign was first announced earlier this January to fight anti-palm oil campaigns that are threatening people’s livelihood.
The campaign will be a year-long programme with the aim of instilling national pride and greater appreciation for Malaysian palm oil, focusing on socio-economic, health, nutrition, food and non-food applications.
