PALMEX Malaysia 2019 aims to increase sustainability of palm oil industry

The 7th Edition of Palm Oil Technology and Innovations Expo (PALMEX) Malaysia 2019 which incorporates with Malaysia International Palm Oil Conference (MIPOC) 2019, with the theme of “Seizing Opportunity, Building Resiliency” has been officially launched by YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture.


YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak said in his speech and was read out by YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture during the Opening Ceremony of PALMEX Malaysia 2019.


“The growth of palm oil industry will be enormous benefits to the industry players, but also the local communities that nurture it, it is important for the industry players to include the local communities in the development and expansion programme for the benefits of all parties involved,” said by Chief Minister of Sarawak.


“There is a need for us to look into the details of palm oil especially the positive effect on health, environment and sustainability.” “In recent years, all palm growth has expanded to Southeast Asia including Malaysia and Indonesia are currently producing more than 80 percent of the world’s palm oil supply,” he said.


“Presently, palm oil is one of the least expensive and most popular oils worldwide where it accounts for one third of the global plant oil production,” he added.


The Chief Minister also said “The palm oil industry must continue to highlight the natural goodness and benefits of palm oil to the world, so that it will be well received for many years to come.”


“Sarawak government is always welcome the organizing of international business event that will provide good avenue for the palm oil industry players to congregate,” he said.


He then added “With the presence of the local and international palm oil experts to PALMEX Malaysia 2019, this event will provide a good platform for all of us to figure out more ideas and solutions to address the challenges and issues related to the palm oil industry.”


With the sharing of knowledge and experiences from these palm oil experts, the Chief Minister of Sarawak believes that this will definitely bring more improvements and increase the sustainability to the palm oil industry especially in Sarawak.


The organizer’s supporting partner, Poladrone has also conducted a seminar with the theme of “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV): Automating Oil Palm Plantation” followed by a two-day drone demonstration and a drone performance during the opening ceremony of PALMEX Malaysia 2019.
