Boustead Plantation Bhd’s chief executive officer Chow Kok Choy will be stepping down from his post effective July 31, following his retirement after serving the group for nearly five decades.
The company’s deputy CEO Mohamad Azlan Jaafar has been appointed as the acting CEO, until a successor to the 71-year-old Chow is appointed.
According to Boustead Plantations chairman Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Che Mat, Chow’s extensive expertise has been invaluable during his long-standing tenure with the group.
“On behalf of the board of directors, the management team and all Boustead Plantations employees, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Chow for his years of dedication and significant contributions to Boustead Plantations.
Chow joined the group in 1971 and has served as estate manager for several estates. In 1993, he became planting adviser of Boustead Estates Agency Sdn Bhd (BEA).
He was appointed planting director of BEA in 2001 and subsequently director of operations, plantation, BEA in 2008. He was the managing director of BEA since 2014.
He also served as chief operating officer of Boustead Plantations from 2014 until his appointment as CEO in 2018.
“The board has embarked on an immediate selection process to seek out the best candidate to replace Chow, with the right capabilities and mindset to drive the group forward.
“In the interim, Mohamad Azlan, who has 20 years of experience in the corporate arena and has been with the group for seven years, is well-qualified to take on the role of acting CEO with the support of the board and the experienced senior management team of the group,” said Mohd Ghazali.
